New Feature #1-Sunday Savings

As you can see I am still new to blogging. As I sit here on this sunday evening, I am still trying to figure out how I want to run my blog. I do know that I would like to add a new feature. The feature will be called "Sunday Savings". This is where I will share some saving that you can take advantage of. These type of saving will be geared more towards grocerary stores.

  • At Target-if you purchase two Curel 6 oz Ultra Healing Lotion for the cost of about $3.49 you will get a free $5.00 target gift card. If you have a $1.00 off coupon from the sunday paper on October 9th you could pay less than that. If you use another coupon from someone you know, you would even pay less than that. For you ladies who like to buy clothing from Target, you can use your $5.00 gift card on transaction #2 (your clothes). :)
  • At Krogers- if you purchase a Dr Pepper 2 ltr for the cost of $1.99 you can use a coupon from October 9th sunday paper for Dr Pepper and it would be FREE. Who doesn't like free? :)

BDIB#1

So I am new to blogging and taking pictures but I really wanted to participate in the new BDB Challenge. With getting a new camera and trying to figure out how to work it I was not able to get many pictures taken that were good enough to post. Well, this is what I came up with.

This second picture is me trying to get the timer to work.

Hopefully I will get better with the camera as time goes by.

Skincare Regimen

Today I stumbled across the Veronica's blog @ http://www.pretty-girl-rock.com/. I must say that I really like her blog. I was looking at her section about skincare and it made me think. I do not REALLY have a skincare regimen. Sooooo, I decided to sit down and give this some serious thought. I took Veronica's advice and determined the my skin type. Next I decided to start creating my regimen.

I will try this black soap as a cleanser. If I am not able to find it I will order it from http://www.afrikanrepublic.com/.

Dudu-Osun African Black Soap

I use to use St. Ives to exfoliate but I noticed it was too rough for my skin so I will try exfoliating with Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash. I will order mine from http://www.sephora.com/. It is going to be my goal to exfoliate three times a week.

The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash

For my toner I will be using Neutrogena that I can get from my local drug store.

Alcohol-Free Toner

As far as a moisturizing lotion, I think I will try Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel.

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

Okay so this is what I came up with so far!! Tell me what you think!!

Hair Tag!

I was reading My Healthy Hair Journey and she had a Tag posted to everyone. I decided I would give it a shot!

21 Questions Hair Tag!

1. Why did you start taking better care of your hair?
I wanted it to be healthy and I wanted to see if I could reach BSL.

2. What are your 2 favorite products?
Aussie conditioner and AVJ

3. Who's hair did you admire as a child?
I think I would say Jada Pinkett Smith. She is able to rock long hair, short hair, wavy hair, straight hair, and even braids.

4. What is your ultimate goal length?
I think BSL or MBL would be just fine for me.

5. How are you going to celebrate when you reach it?
Cutting some long layers. I am not real big on taking pictures but I might do a professional photo shoot.

6. Two styles you want to try at your goal length?
I would like to try big long spiral curls and just wear my hair down a little more.
7. Which do you prefer: Health or length?
I want it all!!!

8. Which do you prefer: Hair ties with no metal parts, or butterfly clips?
Hair ties with no metal parts

9. What products do you prefer: salon brands, organic brands, BSS brands or drugstore brands?
BSS

10. Which product/technique do you think is over-rated?
Working in sections

11. Which product/technique do you think is under-rated?
Baggying! I think this is part of the reason I have not retained the amount of length I wanted. I will be doing this when I wear my buns, half wigs, and lace front wigs (if i decide to start wearing them).

12. What is your favorite part of your hair regimen?
Co washing. I love it.

13. What is the most annoying part of your hair regimen?
Getting in and out of the shower

14. Oils or butters?
Oils

15. Bun or ponytail?
Bun

16. Wig or weave (or neither)?
I wear both but I think I prefer half wigs over weaves so that I can wash my hair the way I want to on wash days.

17. What is your opinion on growth aids?
Just what it says. It is a growth AID! I think people feel if they use a growth aid they will get this long beautiful hair. Well I do not think you will get that hair you desire if you do not moisturise, seal, condition your hair, or keep your scalp clean.
18. What length do you consider long?
APL+

19. When is the last time you've been to a salon?
I went last Saturday but before that I was over a year

20. What do you like to surf the most: youtube channels, personal blogs or hair forums?
youtube but everyone is trying to go natural so I have not been surfing youtube in a while.

21. And finally, what piece of advice would you give to someone just starting out their hair journey?
Be patient, consistent, and find out what works for you.

Master Plan

I have been trying to figure out what to do with my hair as I continue with this hair journey. Because my life is so busy I thought it would be best if I came up with a schedule.I was thinking that I should follow the schedule listed below:
1. Flat iron (for length check)
2. Bun
3. Wrap
4. Half Wig
5. Wrap
6. Lace Front
7. Flat iron (for new growth)
8. Bun
9. Half Wig
10 and 11. Sew in
12. Lace Front

Do you guys have a schedule that you follow? If so, please share! Do you think having a schedule is a good idea or a waste of time?

A Small Change

I started my hair journey January 1, 2010. At the time I was shoulder length. This is my current length at 9 weeks post. I usually flatiron my hair one time between relaxers but this time I wanted to see how long my new growth will stay flat. I usually wear a side part or no part, so this was a change for me. Do you think I pulled off the middle part? How many time do you flatiron between relaxers? How do you manage your new growth at 9 weeks post?

Coral

This is such a beautiful color and it last a long time. I am the type of person who like to go to the nail shop twice a month. Well I wanted to see how long this polish would last so I wore it until I couldn't take it anymore. It lasted almost two months.  I would say OPI is well worth the money.

OPI Bright Lights Big Color Nlb38 - Nail Polish / Lacquer / Enamel

This is Bright lights- Big color. I love this polish. This will be a staple polish for me. What do you think about OPI and this color? Is it really a such thing as a "staple" polish or did I just make that up?

Finding What Works

Sooooo, I have been on my Hair Journey for about a year and a half but I still feel like I am all over the place. I have found my staple shampoo (Elasta QP Cream Conditioning Shampoo) and my staple conditioner for co-washing (Aussie). That is some progress but I guess I was thinking that I would have at least found all of my staple products by now. Are you on a hair journey? If so, how long have you been on your journey and what are your staple products? How long did it take you to find all of your staple products?
